Topic: Development Charges: Funding Our Growing City

The Urban League in discussion with Paul Yeoman from the City of London to explore Development Charges, and the cost of growing our City.

A Development Charge Master Study is currently underway in association with various stakeholders to determine new charges as legislated by the Development Charges Act. Items already discussed have included the changes to provincial policy, and allowing cities new service areas to apply charges for growth related costs. The committee will explore and provide insights to Civic Administration on topics including but not limited to: growth forecasts; development charge policies; growth capital needs and associated studies; development charge rates, including legislative deductions such as growth / non-growth allocations; and a development charge background study and by-law.
